Good Morning! Be encouraged today, it’s time to let go of the inner vows.
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me ~ Psalm 50:15
Inner vows are promises about the future that you make to yourself about pain you’ve suffered in the past. For example, you might vow: “No one will ever break my heart like that again” or “I’ll never let myself be poor” or “I’ll never let that happen to me again.” While it may seem like inner vows will help you, they’ll actually hurt you, because they encourage you to try to control certain areas of your life and hold on to bitterness rather than trusting God with them. They can start to guide your life when it should be the Holy Spirit who guides us. If this resonates with you this morning, then it’s time to surrender your inner vows – and every part of your life – to God, inviting him to change your hard heart to one that’s full of His love as he guides you through the healing process.
Morning Prayer: Father God, I pray this morning that we are released and healed from the bondage of our past and holding on to inner vows attempting to protect our own hearts from past, present, and future pain. Lord, we surrender all to you this morning. We invite and welcome you into our wounded hearts to start the process of healing our brokenness. We are willing to do whatever is necessary to break the cycle of pain that many of us have experienced most of our life. As we take personal responsibility for our choices rather than blaming others, Holy Spirit help us to forgive the people who have hurt us, forgive ourselves for mistakes, and most importantly accept God’s forgiveness. We thank you for hearing and answering our cry in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.
